The art of Presence and the 3 modalities of Being

(Inspired by Eckhart Tolle and his book a New Earth, highly recommend)

  1. Acceptance - Everything is at it is. If it is within your control and you wish to change the situation do so without losing yourself in negativity. If you can’t change it or leave accept what is.

    • Common forms of negativity: Complaining (resisting what is), Condemning, Judging, Dwelling in confusion (“I don’t know”), Worrying, Obsessing, etc.

  2. Enjoyment - Occurs when you are fully engaged in the moment or action you are performing. Life become enjoyable and cinematic at times. Simple. This enjoyment comes from your increased awareness, and even the most mundane tasks can become enjoyable.

    • When you are walking, feel each step, when you are driving be totally there, don’t allow your attention to be absorb by the endless thought stream of the mind.

  3. Enthusiasm - This happens when you are enjoying the action you’re performing, and it is aligned with an intentional goal you have that benefits the whole.
